Digital Radiography – Digital X-rays offer unparalleled benefits over traditional radiographs: they’re convenient, safe for the environment, provide a great opportunity for patient education, can be transferred and copied accurately, and best of all, they’re safer for our patients.
What are they?
The 100th anniversary of the use of dental radiographs, or X-rays, has already come and gone! And in this century, digital technology is quickly changing the way we use X-rays. While digital X-rays still require a patient to “pose” for a picture, the process and results are dramatically different. Instead of film, a highly sensitive electronic receptor is inserted into your mouth. An electronic image is captured instantaneously and stored on a computer’s database. These digital X-rays give us a clear, high-resolution view of teeth, bone, root, and tissue, all while using up to 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays. This new technology is just one more tool we can use to provide you with the best and most efficient dental care possible.

To make the cavity-detecting process more comfortable and comprehensive, we use Spectra Caries Detector, a revolutionary dental laser that finds cavities in their earliest stages. Spectra Caries Detection Aid has been awarded several honors in this year alone. This particular award showcases Spectra as having clear advantages over other caries detection devices and was voted “Best in Class” by a panel of key opinion leaders in the dental market. This handheld, non-invasive imaging product detects tooth decay by measuring increased light-induced fluorescence.
