How does the doctor stay up-to-date with latest dental technology?
Dr. Mohr and our team take many hours of continued education every year, often far exceeding the state requirement. We also read trade journals and attend professional association meetings. We’re passionate about our careers and enjoy learning about the latest advancements in general dentistry and cosmetic dentistry, as well as dental technology. Soaking up new information and sharing it with our patients is one of the highlights of our careers!
Should I be concerned about mercury/metal fillings?
Although the ADA officially states that mercury levels in fillings are safe, studies have shown that over time, the mercury can travel to other parts of the body. Dr. Mohr is committed to maintaining a mercury-free practice. We offer tooth-colored fillings, a non-toxic alternative to mercury/metal fillings. Tooth-colored restorations offer numerous benefits over their metal counterparts, including esthetics, strength, and durability.
Is gum disease really that serious?
Yes! Many patients don’t take gum disease seriously, because it’s so prevalent in our society. However, gum disease can advance rapidly, causing an incurable, chronic condition called periodontitis. This advanced stage of gum disease eats away gum tissue, is the leading cause of adult tooth loss, and contributes to bone loss. Recent studies show that patients with gum disease are twice as likely to develop heart disease and type 2 diabetes. Keeping your mouth healthy and disease-free should be a high priority on your healthcare agenda. Dr. Mohr and our team can help you prevent, reverse, or control gum disease with regularly scheduled professional cleanings.
Does your office use lasers?
Our Massapequa Park office features an Odyssey diode laser for soft-tissue procedures. This laser represents the most sophisticated, precise, and minimally invasive technology available. Dr. Mohr can use the laser to treat gum disease, perform minor oral surgeries, shape gum tissue to correct a “gummy” smile, and much more! The laser cauterizes and sterilizes as it cuts, so patients don’t need stitches and healing time is minimized. With laser dentistry, Dr. Mohr can complete many procedures in a single visit, so comfortably that patients often don’t require any anesthesia or injections! What is a smile makeover?
A smile makeover is a combination of cosmetic dental procedures selected to improve the esthetics of a smile. Dr. Mohr will work with you to create a plan that caters to your unique needs, goals, and desires. Sometimes, a smile makeover can be completed in just one or two visits with very conservative therapies. Common smile makeover treatments include bonding, teeth whitening, Invisalign clear braces, porcelain veneers, and porcelain crowns. Dr. Mohr will make suggestions, offer advice, and customize a treatment plan that delivers lasting satisfaction.
